Tracy acquired her Black Belt certification from GE Appliances, and her Master Black Belt certification from Pivotal Resources. She also acquired a Lean Enterprise Certificate from San Diego State University.

Tracy has a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from San Francisco State University, and a Masters degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Leadership and Managing Organizational Change, from the Graziadio School of Business at Pepperdine University.

Select Project Experience:

LA County Registrar/Recorder County Clerk: Tracy provided Lean and Six Sigma Training and Consulting on four projects for LA County Registrar/Recorder County Clerk. In addition, mentor 6 county employees to be full-time resources for their Lean Six Sigma effort. Train and certify Lean Six Sigma Green Belts, Train and certify Lean Six Sigma Black Belts. Train the Division Managers on an Introduction to Lean, Six Sigma, and supporting a process improvement initiative. Provide Lean Event Training/Facilitation for Gemba Walks and Kaizen events. Provide mentoring and coaching for team leads, and team members in preparation, facilitation and post event activities.

Department of Veteran's Affairs: Tracy worked closely with leaders and Systems Redesign Coordinators at various VAMCS, accomplishments and progress to-date include:

Univar Chemical Corporation: Tracy helped develop the entire process improvement program for Lean Six Sigma at Univar. This included: infrastructure, strategy, deployment, training, mentoring, facilitation, project selection, and project support, and coaching. At Univar, process walks, are imbedded in the process improvement methodology. Since there are multiple locations and different ways of doing things for each location, it is critical to understand the current process and root causes for each. In addition, many assumptions were being made about process issues, without truly understanding current state processes and true root causes. Building profound knowledge of processes was completed by performing process walks (Gemba walks) at the locations with the subject matter experts heavily involved. To date, approximate project savings total $4 million. The internal process improvement group has made it a point, to become experts in process walks.

Charles Schwab: Tracy O’Rourke was the lead consultant for the Schwab consulting team, serving in both San Francisco and Phoenix, AZ. Over the course of 3+ years, Tracy and her team brought client-focused effectiveness into balance with cost efficiency by applying Lean Six Sigma and Change Management concepts to the processes at Schwab. Tracy used a “teaching” model to help Charles Schwab achieve its goal of implementing the methodology and building the knowledge internally. In compliance with the “teach-do” model, a group of people was selected to be mentored through the process and the life cycle of the project. The process included training with application into real world situations. This approach provided significant hands-on support to all participants.
